Radio Boral is the 18th Community Radio in Bangladesh, and the 2nd of community broadcasters at Rajshahi District. Initiated by SBMSS, an NGO, this organization started as a non-political and non-profitable community media, especially to uplift the lifestyle of rural and sand-island communities of its transmission area. 

Community Radio Boral is community-based radio. In addition to creating opportunities for the poor and marginalized to speak directly to the media here; Opportunities have been created to express and listen to their voices. It has created new ways to ensure the right to information and communication of people living in rural areas in social, political, economic, cultural and environmental fields.

The Community Radio Boral curates all of its programs by giving priorities to the local needs and demands. The news and programs reflect the issues on people’s rights, health, education, agriculture, environment, sanitation, income generation, employment opportunities, local culture and heritage conservation. Different program formats like talk-shows, live events and PSA (Public Service Announcements) are adopted to produce and broadcast programs on social safety net, disaster preparedness, emergency issues (like covid, flood etc.), legal aid, entertainment, empowerment of women, children and disadvantaged groups. Along with the on-air programs Radio Boral organizes different off-air social awareness programs by involving the listeners, relevant to socio-cultural and economic issues in its broadcasting area. 

Radio Boral works in partnership with different national and international organizations, government agencies, civil society organizations, academia and think-tanks. Encouraging the individual talents and creativity from the local community, CR Boral receives technical and financial support from different agencies through formal partnership to implement its planned activities in a professional way. These partnerships help CR Boral to contribute in achieving the government’s target of 8th 5-year plan, digital Bangladesh vision and SDGs. The important partners of CR Boral include: Ministry of Information, Ministry of Disaster, Ministry of Agriculture, Rajshahi University, UNDP, SDC, USAID, WHO, Ipas, Frederick Neumann Foundation, BCRA, BNNRC and many more.

The right to information of the community people in the area of Radio Baral Broadcasting has been ensured and their lives and livelihoods have changed for the better.

Mission
To play a positive role in the development of the community by creating and broadcasting quality infotainment-based programs with the people of the broadcasting area to alleviate poverty, inequality and injustice of marginal and rural people and involve them in various agricultural initiatives.
